IB PYP uses the concept of transdisciplinary learning to blend several learning experiences into one instead of teaching on a subject by subject basis. The PYP program fosters the interplay of asking, doing and thinking that empowers young people for a lifetime of learning independently & in collaboration with others. The PYP is holistic in nature & promotes open communication based on understanding and respect. Grassroots supports this framework and offers a holistic curriculum that prepares a community of learners to engage with global challenges through inquiry, action & reflection.
Inspired by Reggio, Grassroots School is fueled by the belief that education within the classroom should start from the students’ own learning to help them make connections between their experiences and the new information derived from the inquiry. The school offers a balanced approach, through which students access a broad range of content that spans academic subjects, which focuses on the interrelations between subject areas. The school has developed its own academic framework to match the IB Scope and Sequence as well as the prevalent CBSE, and ICSE syllabi.
Teachers support and facilitate this learning process by creating the educational environment that encourages students to take responsibility for their own learning. Teachers model and value inquiry and they incite students’ natural curiosity to marvel about significant focus areas and to look at numerous means to answer these questions.
